It depicts the rising sun, cranes, Mt.Hourai, and a turtle among the waves. Mt.Hourai is decorated with pine, bamboo, and plum blossoms, creating a festive atmosphere.
The expression of the “tarashikomi” (a kind of “drizzle”) seen on Mt.Hourai is indescribably exquisite, and the blue-green accents placed here and there add to the charm of the work.
The supple brush strokes and unique use of color show the tradition of the Rimpa school. The wavesand droplets are designed but still moving, showing the artist’s high level of skill.
