It depicts Otafuku looking at you and smiling kindly. There is a warm atmosphere that makes you want to smile back.
She is wearing a thin yukata-like robe and holding a fan, looking cool. If you look at the pattern on the robe, you will see pine trees, bamboo, and plum blossoms. Otafuku is also an auspicious theme, but the addition of the pine, bamboo, and plum makes this work even more festive.
The inscription on the inscription indicates that this work was painted in the style of the Rimpa school. The designed patterns used in this work are truly characteristic of the Rimpa school.
The outlines of the face and robe are framed in soft black with a hint of brown, giving the overall impression of peacefulness.

Matsumura Keibun (1779-1843) was a half-brother of Wu Chun (1752-1811), who studied painting under Wu Chun and became a central figure of the Shijo School after Wu Chun’s death.
He is known for his elegant flower-and-bird paintings that make the most of his advanced sketching techniques and margins. This work, in dark Rimpa-style color, is extremely valuable and rare, and can be considered an ambitious work by Keibun.
